I recently started work at a prototype shop in Menlo Park, Ca.. It is a dream job, I am learning about: SLA, SLS, compression molds, casting, and finising. I spend about half my day building models.
We have the Sony 9000d prototype machine. Awesome. That's all I can say about it.
The SLS is amazing, 'living' parts right out of the machine. Make a hinge, take it out, and put it to use. Moving parts inside other moving parts. this is great.
In between taking parts out of machines, cleaning, and then curing them, my day is spent finishing the parts. Bead blasting, sanding, filing, boring, scraping, and gluing. We get a lot of interesting things coming through due to being in silicon valley. Medical devises to high tech to automotive. We get to work on some really cool stuff.
